The main office and laboratory space for Ascend BioVentures is located in the Research Park on the Oklahoma University Health Sciences Campus (OUHSC). Ascend manages a pre-built wet laboratory with bench space and a tissue culture room (2,580 sq ft), and an OLAW and USDA-certified vivarium (3,115 sq ft).
For Ascend BioVentures, the location on OUHSC campus provides a broad range of scientific discourse and potential collaboration opportunities commensurate with being on a major state health sciences university campus. OUHSC is the medical branch for the University of Oklahoma, housing medical, pharmacy, nursing, dental, public health and allied health schools, 6 Research Institutes, and 3 research, teaching and tertiary care hospitals. In addition, the Oklahoma State Chief Medical Examiner and Departments of Health and Mental Health are on OUHSC campus.
In addition to University and Institute core facilities, the Research Park on OUHSC’s campus houses 36 biomedical companies. Research Park has biotech service companies that perform pharmaceutical, chemical and biochemical analysis, cGMP biologics manufacturing, & safety and toxicology testing. In addition, business development and mentoring programs are also co-located and provide services to companies. Overall, location on campus provides Ascend BioVentures a good environment to advance research products through preclinical studies to subsequent clinical trials.
